PROVINCIAL NOMINEE

Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is a collaborative efforts between the provincial, territorial and federal governments of Canada, where the provincial is allowed to nominate qualified candidates with the right skills, education and experience, who want to live and contribute to the economy of a specific province or territory, with the goal of becoming permanent residents. Each province and territory has its nomination program to attract certain groups (students, business people, skilled or semi-skilled workers) to fill gapes in the growth of their economy.

PNP has two application process:

  • Apply directly to the province if you meet the requirements, which are different from province to province and territory to territory. Once the province or territory nominates you, then apply for permanent residence  to Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
  • Application through the Express Entry System. There are two ways:
    • Contact the province or territory directly and ask to be nominated under the express entry system. Should the province or territory agrees to nominate you, with your nomination letter, complete an express entry profile or update your profile in the express entry system if you have created one already. OR
    • Create an Express Entry Profile and indicate which province or territory you are interested in. If a province or territory is interested in you, they will send you a “Notification of Interest“. With the notification of interest, apply to express entry system of the province or territory that sends you the notification of interest for nomination.

Either way, you must meet the minimum criteria of the province or territory that nominates you as well as the federal criteria for the same program under which you are nominated.

The process described above is overly simplified for easy understanding for those who want a quick synopsis of the process. The actual process is a little complex than as described above, which is where we come in to give you a hand.
