Post Graduate work permit
Post graduate work permit (PGWP) provides opportunity for students who have graduated from any Canadian Designated Learning Institute (DLI) to obtain an open PGWP to allow them gain valuable Canadian work experience. The skills and work experience gained through the PGWP can be used to apply for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). PGWP is only issued once to any individuals as it is not renewable. The PGWP program is design such that the individual is expected to acquire their Canadian permanent residence before the expiration of the PGWP.
PGWP Eligibility :
- graduated from an eligible DLI with a minimum program duration of 8 months that leads to the award of a degree, certificate or diploma.
- currently posses a valid temporary status (held a valid study permit or holds a study permit) or is eligible to study in Canada without a study permit or have left Canada if no valid temporary status exists.
- apply within 180 days of completing the study (receive a letter of program completion or official transcript from the institute)
Note: Recipients of certain scholarships are not eligible for PGWP
